Net run rate
Scored 280 runs in 40 overs: 7.000 an over.
Conceded 251 runs in 35.2 overs: 7.104 an over.
7.000 - 7.104 = -0.104
Overs include the full quota for any innings that was bowled out.

How it works
Net run rate is a team's scoring rate minus the rate scored against it, over the whole competition: runs scored divided by overs faced, minus runs conceded divided by overs bowled. Add up all the runs and all the overs first, then divide. Averaging each match's rate gives a different, wrong answer.
Overs count balls: 16.4 overs is 16 overs and 4 balls, which is 16.667 overs, not 16.4.
A side bowled out counts its full quota of overs, however early it was all out. Bowled out for 120 in 16.4 overs of a 20-over match counts as 120 runs off 20 overs, both for that side and for the side that bowled it out.
A no-result match counts as played, with the points split, but its runs and overs are left out of everyone's net run rate. In a match decided by a super over, only the main innings count.
These are the rules a tournament in the Manage Cricket app uses. Some competitions add their own (rain-shortened matches, for example), so check yours.
A worked example
Falcons play two matches in a 20-over league. In the first they make 150 for 6 in 20 overs and bowl Rangers out for 120 in 16.4 overs. In the second they make 130 for 9 in 20 overs and lose to Strikers, who reach 131 for 3 in 15.2 overs.
Runs scored: 150 + 130 = 280, in 20 + 20 = 40 overs: 7.000 an over.
Runs conceded: 120 + 131 = 251. Overs bowled: 20 (Rangers were bowled out, so their full 20 overs count) + 15.333 = 35.333 overs: 7.104 an over.
Net run rate: 7.000 - 7.104 = -0.104.

How is net run rate calculated?
Total runs scored divided by total overs faced, minus total runs conceded divided by total overs bowled, over all the team's matches. Overs count balls as sixths of an over (16.4 overs is 16.667).
What happens to net run rate when a team is all out?
The team is charged its full quota of overs, not the overs it actually faced. Bowled out for 120 in 16.4 overs of a 20-over match counts as 120 runs off 20 overs.
Does a no-result or abandoned match count in net run rate?
No. It counts as played and the points are shared, but its runs and overs are left out of every team's net run rate.
How are teams ranked when they have the same points?
On net run rate, then on wins, in this calculator and in Manage Cricket tournaments. Some competitions use head to head results or other rules first, so check yours.
Why is my net run rate different from the official table?
Check the overs (16.4 is 16 overs and 4 balls), that bowled-out sides count their full overs, and matches shortened by rain, where the overs a side changed. Set that match's overs to the shortened number.
