How it works

For each batter, enter the runs, the balls faced, the fours and sixes, and how they were out the way a scorebook writes it (c Kim b Hart, lbw b Fox, run out). Leave it empty, or write not out, for a batter still in. Retired hurt is not a wicket.

For each bowler, enter the overs (3.4 is 3 overs and 4 balls), maidens, runs and wickets. The innings' overs are added up from the bowling.

Extras are byes, leg byes, wides, no-balls and penalty runs. The total is the batters' runs plus the extras. Runs off the bowling plus byes, leg byes and penalties should come to the same total: the maker shows both so a slip in the book is easy to spot.

The result is worked out from the two totals (won by runs, by wickets, or tied). Type your own if the match was decided another way, such as DLS.

Next time, score it live in the Manage Cricket app: ball by ball on a phone, even offline, with the scorecard, the result and a live page made for you.

A worked example

Falcons make 143 for 2 in 20 overs: Sam Lal 54 off 40, Alex Kim 70 off 50, and 9 extras (1 bye, 2 leg byes, 5 wides and a no-ball).

Rangers reply with 123 for 2: Leo Fox 61 off 48, Joe Hart 33, Max Bell 25 not out, and 4 extras. The result reads Falcons won by 20 runs.

Strike rates and economy are worked out for every player: Sam Lal's 54 off 40 is a strike rate of 135.0, and Max Bell's 4 overs for 31 runs is an economy of 7.75.

Questions and answers

Is the scorecard maker free?

Yes. It works in your browser with no sign-up, and the picture is yours to share.

How do I share the scorecard on WhatsApp?

Tap Share picture to make the scorecard picture, then share it from your phone, or send the link, which opens the same scorecard for anyone.

Is my scorecard saved?

Not on our side: the scorecard lives in its link and its picture. To keep every match and every player's stats, score in the Manage Cricket app.

How are wickets counted?

Every batter with a dismissal in How out counts as a wicket. Empty, not out, retired hurt and did not bat do not.

Can I score ball by ball instead?

Yes, in the Manage Cricket app: score every ball on your phone, even with no signal, and the scorecard, strike rates and result are made as you go, with a live page for your followers.
